Honduras Day 3 (click here for more)

The morning was spent in the company of Father George, Presvytera, Deacon Ignatios and his wife. We toured the lovely city of San Pedro Sula and had many discussions on the future of the orphanage.  Father George is a man of many ideas and tremendous vision.  We reinforced to Father our support and we look forward to working with him as he continues to build a loving home for these wonderful children.

The team returned to the orphange to play with the children and the children prepared wonderful drawings as keepsakes for each team member.  After Vespers,  we had dinner with the children and attended a farewell evening at the school with many of the faithful.  The community welcomed us with open arms the entire time we were here.  They hope and pray this is our first trip rather than last trip to San Pedro Sula. We of course invited Father George and any other members of the community to Baltimore.  The evening concluded with many kisses, warm good byes and invitations for future trips.

If you are one of the future members to return to San Pedro Sula and be with this wonderful community, we are sure you will take away just as many wonderful memories as this group will keep in our hearts for the rest of our lives.

In Christ, Father Dean, Father Lou, Geli, Sue, Zaharoula and Gus.

Greetings,

This morning we attended the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist.  All of the children of the Hogar and of the school were in attendance.  Father Dean, Father Lou, Father Lou and Deacon Ignatios celebrated together.

Following breakfast, our team visited the National Hospital of San Pedro Sula, Hondoras.  The experience was overwhelming for each of us in seeing children from the country.  The hospital serves 52% of the Honduran population.

We had the chance to visit property that was donated to the Cathedral to build a monastery in the future.  The property was in the mountains of San Pedro Sula that had a wonderful view of the entire city. This afternoon, our team spent hours playing in the playground.  Gifts and t-shirts were given to the children of the Hogar. The evening was spent at the home of the Parish Council President who hosted a meal for the entire Parish Council, members of the Philoptochos and our team.

God bless,

Father Dean, Father Lou, Gus, Susan, Zaharoula and Geli

Honduras Day 1 (click here for more)

Our team arrived safe and sound in Honduras. We were greeted by Father George Farraj, Cathedral Dean and Deacon Ignatio and by a number of his faithful parishioners.

We were taken to the Hogar San Nektarios to visit with the children. We are the first team that has visited this orphanage and one cannot tell you the wonderful reception of these beautiful children and the staff. During our visit, Dr. Susan Prevas was able to examine the children, who were found to be in great health.

This afternoon, a vespers service was celebrated in the Cathedral with the faithful parishioners of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. Following the vespers, we stayed for a wonderful meal then held a discussion with the parishioners regarding Great Lent and Pascha. Father Lou and Father Dean both lead the session that was translated by Father George.

The temp is a comfortable 75 and we are all enjoying this warmer weather.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers,Father Dean, Father Lou, Susan, Gus, Zacharoula and Geli
