The Great and Holy Fast is upon us. This time of year allows us the opportunity for spiritual reflection in preparation for the glorious Resurrection of our Lord.
Monday, March 7, the sacrament of Holy Unction will be celebrated at the Cathedral beginning at 6:30 PM.
Wednesday, March 9, the Presanctified Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Saint John’s Adult Medical Day Center beginning at 10AM.
Friday, March 11, the first Salutations to the Virgin Mary will be chanted at the Cathedral beginning at 7PM. A spiritual discussion will follow.
Saturday, March 12, the third Saturday of Souls Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at the Cemetery Chapel of the Holy Resurrection beginning at 10AM.
Sunday, March 13 is the commemoration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy. All, especially our children, are reminded to bring their icons to church that day. That evening, the Baltimore area celebration of the Sunday of Orthodoxy will be celebrated beginning at 6PM at Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church, 909 Shawan Road in Hunt Valley.
Take time this year to read the prescribed readings during Lent. You may find them, along with a number of Lenten resources, at the Archdiocesan website, www.goarch.org. For iPhone users, consider downloading the app for readings and feastdays on the Archdiocesan website.
Also…registration is being accepted for our Annual Lenten Retreat. This year, Father Christopher Flesoras of the Greek Orthodox Shrine of Saint Anna in Roseville, California will be the Retreat Master. Register online at www.goannun.org. Don’t wait until the last minute, register today!
I look forward with great anticipation to our Lenten journey together.
With love and humble blessings,
Father Dean
