The Annunciation Cathedral established a team to address the technology needs of the Cathedral. The objective of the Technology Committee is to manage the technology needs of the priests, office staff, and cathedral organizations. The committee will be familiar with all aspects of Internet, networking, infrastructure, backup, recovery and computer software/hardware technology so as to determine how they are best applicable in the objectives of the priests, office staff, parishioners, and Cathedral organizations.

The responsibilities of the team include:

  • Inform Parish Council liaison of meeting date(s) in order that they can attend the meeting
  • Conduct a yearly evaluation of the Cathedral’s existing technology, which includes audio/visual, Internet components, network and computer related hardware/software for upgrades/modifications
  • Search, evaluate, and recommend new technology, devices and software packages that will enhance and benefit the Cathedral’s mission
  • Search, evaluate, and recommend new technology, devices and software packages for the Cathedral’s organizations that may aid in their objectives
  • Attend one Parish Council meeting a year to present an update regarding activities and projects concerning the Cathedral’s computer system
  • Present to the PC liaison any operating budget requirements or purchase requests for each fiscal year
  • Maintain in a secured location, an inventory of computer hardware and software
  • Seek technical expert advice when necessary

In 2007 the name of this team was changed from the Computer Committee to the Technology Team to include the new areas of audio/visual needs. For the 2008-2009 ecclesiastic year, the team is working on the following projects:
